CM Pros launched today
We launched the CM Professionals revised website based on a new design by Stuart Guest-Smith and Lee Sinclair of Boardwalk Designs.

The site is hosted at skyBuilders who did the implementation of the code.

The story of the redesign of the old collaboration-oriented site to a new member-facing and public-facing site includes the requirements document and functional specification, the content audit and information architecture, the multi-level navigation design, the reusable content elements, user research and personas, and compliance issues

CMS Glossary now has 230 terms
The CMS Glossary has 585 proposed terms. 230 now have extensive definitions.

We have prototyped the glossary-as-a-service feed for several CMS-related sites. Editorial details are at CM Professionals > Glossary

It is playing now on Content-Wire in the UK.

The CMS Glossary on CMS Wiki is a controlled vocabulary of terms used by CM Professionals, a content management community of practice.

It is also a demonstration of the CM best practice called single-source publishing.

CMS Glossary definitions are written using collaborative authoring tools with version control at our companion site CMS Wiki.

Definitions are then extracted by a web service (a connector or adapter) that converts them to syndicated information feeds suitable for use on any CMS-related site. They can appear in an iframe, or open a new popup glossary window with a CSS stylesheet to match a site.

Instructions for embedding links in your text that will call these info feeds are available here.
From the CMS Review Products index page, you can now select a News and Reviews link that pulls in the latest news about a vendor and its products from the CMS-related blogs and news sites (the same as are aggregated at CMS News). We use Feedster.com technology.

Here is news about Crown Peak Advantage.

We found this direct navigation scheme worked well on the ASIS&T and STC home pages. It augments the left navigation panel.

We moved the cluster of List/Search/Directory/Compare tools to the right-hand side of the page, over the new Glossary. We also reduced the number of choices in the left navigation, and retitled several of them.

Added Glossary to CMS Review Home Page
We added a new panel to the right side of the CMS Review home page, with a drop-down CMS Glossary menu at the top.

When you select a term in the drop-down menu, the definition appears in the new iframe.

The CMS Glossary now has over 200 defined terms and over 500 candidate terms.

You can link to them from many places. For example, here is the definition for content management

     CMS Glossary Feeds Online
We relaunched CMSGlossary.com, using the new web service feed of "CMS Glossary As A Service." Editorial details at CM Professionals > Glossary.

A connector/adapter script running on CMSCalendar.com retrieves the term and definition data from the CMS Wiki, and converts it for use in an XML feed or a JSS feed script.

There are three glossary feeds, all driven from a simple drop-down menu. One opens a new window with the CMS Glossary definition. The others target a frame or an iframe in a website. We use the iframe approach on the new CMS Review home page.

We formatted the CMS Glossary to match the styles on CMS Watch and the Gilbane Report.

The Glossary is also serving from Content-Wire.com,

The CMS Glossary now has over 200 defined terms and over 500 candidate terms.

Tony Byrne's One Minute With A Vendor was a big success. At the fall Gilbane we will videotape this event, and then make a matrix of Q &A from each vendor.

Tomorrow Jesse Ross, Hal Roberts, and I will connect two digital video cameras to a Videonics MXProDV switcher, and test a webcast of the resulting signal for BloggerCon.

On Day 1 we will also connect the switcher to the Langdell North room sound system. It may be a challenge to defeat 60Hz hum.
