Content Management Community of Practice - Education

The Content Management Community of Practice could have a strong education component, especially if we combine forces with the academic community. Many colleges and universities have graduate level programs in information science and information technology, sometimes with specific courses in content management.

We have identified several such places, including many that were formerly schools of library science. They now often characterize themselves as an "iSchool." Bob Boiko's CMS Evaluation Lab is a project of the University of Washington iSchool.

Our education effort could consist of curriculum advice for all the iSchools, coupled with classes and seminars of various lengths taught at our own offices or preferably at collaborating educational institutions. The greater Boston area is an excellent testing ground, with several suitable schools.

While we initially would not provide professional certification, we could provide certificates of satisfactory class completion. Our membership list could reflect these certificates.
